So if you haven’t been living under a rock for the past 12 months to 2 years then you’ve probably heard of The Ordinary. They became extremely popular for their amazingly affordable skincare products & sleek packaging. I’ve tried out a few of their products, but today I’ll be reviewing their caffeine solution. I’ve been using this daily for the past 12 weeks.
This caffeine solution is aimed at people who suffer with dark circles & puffy undereyes. Caffeine has the ability to constrict blood vessels under the skin, which in turn reduces the look of dark circles. It can also tighten skin! As well as caffeine in this solution, The Ordinary have also put EGCG in, which comes from green tea leaves. They’ve packed this with anti-oxidants & anti-inflammatories.
The texture of this solution feels very much like a serum. It’s quite runny, but very lightweight & has no scent. As you can imagine, you only need a tiny drop of this for each undereye, so the 30ml bottle will last you forever!
When I first started using this, I would apply this to my undereye and my eyelids as I would sometimes wake up with a little puffiness on my lids more than anything. After 2-3 weeks of using this consistently, I started noticing that my eyelids were so freaking itchy! No matter how much I rubbed them (they were raw), nothing soothed them. Then it clicked…it was probably this eye solution, as it was a high concentration of caffeine! My undereye felt completely fine, so I just stopped applying it to my lids and they calmed down within 3-4 days.
This soaks in really quickly, so you don’t have to wait around for it to disappear or have a permanent sheen to stay under your eyes all day. Makeup sits really nice on top of it & some very fine lines I was a little conscious about seemed to slightly diminish – noticeable when I applied makeup as it didn’t sink into the lines so badly!
In the last 12 weeks I have seen a slight lightening of my undereye – it is noticeable when I look in the mirror, but it is a very slight change – no one else would probably notice. I noticed around the 10 week mark, so it’s definitely not an instant fix – patience is key with this product!
This 30ml bottle is only £5.80, which is insane! Absolute bargain. If you’re wanting to try a caffeine eye cream, but you’re unsure how your skin will react, this is a great one to start with! A lot of product that doesn’t cost too much if it doesn’t work out. Maybe don’t slather it onto your eyelids like I did…
You can get this from CultBeauty. If it’s sold out – just google it, there’s quite a few places that sell The Ordinary products in the UK.
Let me know if you’ve tried this product, or any other eye creams with caffeine in – did you see any noticeable differences & how long did it take to notice?
